Switzerland advanced to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Italy, their first victory against the Azzurri in 31 years, leaving Italian fans furious over the "appalling performance."

Defending champions Italy crashed out of Euro 2024 with a painful defeat in Berlin. The Swiss dominated the game, delivering a solid display against the lackluster Italian side, which struggled in ball possession and shots on target. Italy managed just one shot on target in 95 minutes.

Italy’s captain Gianluigi Donnarumma called the performance "inexcusable," while fans labeled it the "worst" game in decades. Italy has conceded the first goal in all four of their tournament games.

Remo Freuler put Switzerland ahead after 37 minutes. Donnarumma made a stunning save to prevent a 2-0 lead just nine minutes later. However, Switzerland doubled their lead one minute into the second half with a superb finish by Ruben Vargas, who fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Switzerland deservedly moved on to the quarter-finals, where they will face the winner of the England-Slovakia game.
