  • 17/12/2024 - 19:32

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has won the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award for his unbelievable overhead bicycle kick against Everton last season.

The talented youngster scored the acrobatic goal when he rose to meet Diogo Dalot’s precise cross and kicked the ball to the back of the net, to the astonishment of Everton goalie Jordan Pickford.

Garnacho, 20, was among the 11 nominees for the prestigious football award. Among the nominees was Premier League player Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United.

"I'm very proud to win this award, it's a proud moment for me and my family. Thank you to everyone who voted for me, especially the United fans. It was a great finish and I worked on this in training many times, but also it was a great move from the team, so it's impossible to be here without my team-mates,” he said.

"It was a special goal and I'll always remember it, but there's many more incredible moments to come with this team. We have a lot to look forward to together."

Even United legend and football reporter Gary Nevill called it the most beautiful bicycle kick he’s ever seen.

United fans have one more thing to be happy about this week after their magnificent win against 2-1 Manchester City. The La Albiceleste star has vowed to do more in his young career after being dropped by Ruben Amorim in the line up in the last derby. Despite it, Garnacho is one of the most promising young players and ais a self-confessed Cristiano Ronaldo fan.
