Newcastle United's Alexander Isak has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for December after a phenomenal run of form. The Swedish striker lit up the league, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in six appearances, finding the net in every game he played.
The 25-year-old's standout performance came with a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, alongside crucial goals against Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester, Aston Villa, and Manchester United. His exploits make him the fourth Swedish player to win the monthly accolade, following in the footsteps of Freddie Ljungberg, Johan Elmander, and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
During Newcastle's midweek EFL Cup win over Arsenal, Isak netted his 50th goal for the Magpies in just 89 appearances. This achievement ranks him as the third-fastest player to hit the milestone for Newcastle in the Premier League era, behind only Andrew Cole (50 games) and Les Ferdinand (84 games).
Nuno's Managerial Masterclass
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has been awarded the Premier League's Manager of the Month, his second win in three months. The Portuguese tactician guided Forest to third place in the league with an impressive run of six consecutive victories.
This marks Nuno's sixth Manager of the Month award in his career, putting him on par with legends such as Bobby Robson and Sam Allardyce. Only nine managers in Premier League history have won the honour more times.
In his acceptance speech, Nuno credited the achievement to the collective effort at Forest:
"I have to thank the players who go out there and give their all for this club. Ultimately, this is recognition for their performances. We also have to thank everyone at the club for the support and ambition they show, starting with our owner, Mr Marinakis, all the way through to every member of staff. Finally, we cannot thank our fans enough for their magnificent support."
With Isak leading Newcastle's charge and Nuno propelling Forest into contention, both clubs will be looking to carry their December momentum into the rest of the season.
