Manchester United vs Manchester City:
The much-anticipated Manchester derby was thrilling as promised. Despite their individual hardships with City's current bad form, and United’s difficult rebuild and weak lineup, fans didn’t anticipate the show-stopping action at Etihad Stadium.
Ending with United winning 2-1, the victory was despite Josko Gvardiol’s early lead. Bruno Fernandes was awarded a penalty in the two minutes and Amad Diallo’s stoppage-time volley.
This is City’s worst outing in the last five seasons, having already dropped 10 points - the most they dropped last season - and their average points lost per season in the last five. The English champions have only won one in the last ten games.
Meanwhile, United are still looking to get back to a top-four placement, a far cry from their glory days in the league. Additionally, Ruben Amorim, United’s new coach, 39, is under examination after his starting X1 was leaked — showing no Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho.
Chelsea Narrowly Beat Brentford
The West London 2-1 derby win in favor of Chelsea made a lot of fans proud — but not head coach Enzo Maresca. The 54-year-old tactician did not like the outcome of the game that went to dangerous situations after his side went down to ten men.
"For me no matter how many games we win, there are things (that show) we're not ready to compete for the title in this moment. A team who knows how to win wouldn't concede that goal," said Maresca.
The debut coach further added that despite having a great showing this season, he will leave the hope for a title to the fans, sharing he feels that the London side Chelsea need more to compete against Liverpool, Arsenal, and champions Manchester City.
