Bayer Leverkusen stormed to a 4-0 victory over Feyenoord in their Champions League opener, with Florian Wirtz leading the charge. Wirtz netted two goals in the first half as Leverkusen took advantage of Feyenoord's defensive errors.

Leverkusen were relentless from the start, with Wirtz pouncing on a defensive slip in the opening five minutes. Alejandro Grimaldo doubled their lead with a well-placed shot in the 30th minute, thanks to Victor Boniface’s clever no-look pass. Wirtz added his second just six minutes later after a pinpoint cross from Jeremie Frimpong.

A free-kick just before half-time led to an own goal by Feyenoord’s goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther, putting Leverkusen four up. Although Feyenoord showed more spirit in the second half, they rarely threatened, and Leverkusen nearly added a fifth goal in stoppage time, only for David Hancko to clear off the line.
